Regular lithium batteries contain BMS, which improves the stability and safety of lithium batteries. Why do lithium batteries explode?

　　The main reasons are as follows:

　　1. External short circuit

　　The external short circuit may be caused by improper operation or misuse. In this case, the discharge current of the lithium battery is very large, causing serious heating of the battery core, and the internal temperature will be as high as about 200 degrees Celsius. High temperature will shrink or completely damage the diaphragm inside the battery, causing a serious internal short circuit, and thus an explosion.

　　2. Internal short circuit

　　There is a short-circuit phenomenon inside the cell, which generates a lot of heat, burns the diaphragm, and causes an internal short-circuit phenomenon of high current. The inside of the cell then generates high temperature, which causes the electrolyte to decompose into gas, resulting in excessive internal pressure. When the shell of the battery cell cannot withstand this pressure, the battery cell will explode.

　　3. Overcharge

　　When the battery is overcharged, the excessive release of lithium ions from the positive electrode will change the structure of the positive electrode, causing the lithium ions to be unable to be inserted into the negative electrode normally, causing lithium evolution and short-circuiting the battery. When the voltage reaches 4.5V or more, the electrolyte will accelerate to decompose into a large amount of gas, causing excessive internal pressure. When the shell of the battery cell cannot withstand this pressure, the battery cell will explode

　　4. The internal water content of the lithium battery is too high

　　The production process of lithium batteries requires strict control of the moisture content, because in addition to excessive moisture content that will affect the performance indicators of the lithium battery, the moisture is easily vaporized when the inside of the cell is overheated, resulting in excessive pressure inside the cell, and then exploded.
