Recently, the oil giant BP stated that its venture capital fund has invested US$20 million in the Israeli company StoreDot. StoreDot has developed a battery system that can charge electric vehicles in the same time as the gas tank is filled.
British Petroleum Ventures said that this investment is part of promoting the development of electric vehicle technology and infrastructure.
BP Downstream Industry CEO Tufan Erginbilgic said: “Ultra-fast charging is at the core of the company’s electrification strategy. We are committed to becoming the preferred fuel supplier, no matter what kind of car our customers drive.”
In September last year, StoreDot raised US$60 million from Daimler. Before expanding into the automotive field, the company developed an ultra-fast charger for mobile phones. StoreDot said its lithium-ion battery technology can fully charge electric vehicles in five minutes.
