One of the major obstacles to the popularization of electric vehicles is battery life and excessive charging time, but Samsung’s newly released next-generation car lithium battery solution may be able to eliminate this concern of users.
Samsung’s official data show that the next-generation car’s lithium battery will have a battery life of 600km, and it can still travel at least 500km even with 80% power, and the charging speed will be controlled at about 20 minutes.
It is reported that this new type of lithium battery for vehicles will be produced at Samsung’s new plant in Hungary, with a total investment of more than US$357 million. It is expected that mass production of this new type of vehicle lithium battery will begin in 2020.
In the future, Samsung plans to have a production capacity of 50,000 electric vehicles. Cooperative models include the well-known BMW i3, Tesla Model 3, and Ford electric vehicles.
In addition, Samsung also released a new 21700 cylindrical battery at this year's North American Auto Show. This battery has higher energy density, power and performance, and will become a partner of Tesla and Panasonic's super battery factory in the future.
