Problems in the actual application of lead-acid batteries:
Problem 1: Lead-acid battery covers a large area
According to incomplete statistics, the area demand for placing lead-acid batteries accounts for about 10% to 20% of the total building area. Where land costs are high, lead-acid batteries occupy an excessively large area and have become the biggest pain point for large energy storage centers.
Problem 2: The battery monitoring system is not perfect
Lead-acid batteries cannot be equipped with intelligent BMS to achieve all-round monitoring, which poses great safety risks. If the system shuts down due to a lead-acid battery failure, it will cause great economic losses and sometimes even political influence.
Problem 3: Lead-acid batteries have short lifespan and require regular maintenance
The lifespan of lead-acid batteries is generally 2 to 3 years, which cannot match the life cycle of the energy storage center, which increases the total application cost.
Problem 4: Lead-acid batteries have higher environmental requirements
Lead-acid batteries have higher requirements for ambient temperature, and their best working temperature is 20-25°C. Relevant data show that when the ambient temperature is 25°C, the service life of the valve-regulated lead-acid battery will be shortened by half for every 6-10°C increase in temperature. When the ambient temperature drops, the actual capacity of the lead-acid battery is severely reduced.
Lithium batteries just perfectly avoid all the bad effects of lead-acid batteries. The advantages of high energy density, small size, light weight, long life, and wide operating temperature range have gained the favor of the market.
