To invest 2 trillion yen, Nissan pushes all solid-state batteries!

On November 29, Nissan Motor released the "Nissan Ambition 2030" (Nissan Ambition 2030), which finalized the development plan for the next few years. Nissan will invest 2 trillion yen (approximately RMB 112.8 billion) in the next five years to accelerate the transformation of electric technology. It plans to launch an electric vehicle equipped with an original all-solid-state battery (ASSB) by fiscal year 2028, and plans to build a pilot plant in Yokohama, Japan in fiscal year 2024.

In order to enhance its competitiveness in the power battery field and accelerate the pace of pure electric transformation, Nissan continues to devote itself to the research and development of lithium-ion battery technology while introducing cobalt-free technology. It is expected to be in fiscal year 2028 (April 2028 to March 2029) reduce the battery cost by 65%.

Nissan plans to launch an electric vehicle equipped with an original ASSB by fiscal year 2028, and plans to build a pilot plant in Yokohama, Japan in fiscal year 2024. This model can shorten the charging time to one-third of the original.

According to the plan, by the 2030 fiscal year, Nissan will launch 23 electric drive models, including 15 pure electric models. In the Chinese market, by fiscal year 2026, Nissan intends to achieve the goal of sales of electric-drive vehicles accounting for more than 40% of total vehicle sales. Earlier, according to foreign media reports, Nissan had planned to make the sales of electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles account for half of its global sales by 2030.

For the launch and application of more pure electric models in the future, Nissan will establish a global battery supply system. Nissan Motor plans to increase its global battery production capacity to 52GWh by fiscal year 2026 and further increase to 130GWh by fiscal year 2030. At the same time, Nissan will also invest 20 billion yen (approximately RMB 1.13 billion) in the construction of charging infrastructure before 2026.webcam factory

In July of this year, Nissan announced its cooperation with Envision Power, a power battery company under Envision Technology Group, which will provide power batteries for Nissan's next-generation electric vehicle platform. According to the Vision Power Plan, a super battery factory will be built in the United Kingdom, with a planned production capacity of 25GWh by 2030, and a capacity expansion potential of 35GWh. Earlier, according to insiders from Nissan China, Nissan also locked a company in Hubei to be its power battery supplier.
