  Mazlin believes that under the rapid development trend of the new energy automobile industry, the development of fast-charging, long-life and high-safety power batteries has increasingly become the direction for battery manufacturers to compete.

  The "2018 First New Energy Vehicles and Power Batteries (CIBF Shenzhen) International Exchange Conference" with the theme of "Breakthrough · Integration-Meeting the New Era of Industry" was held at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center on May 22-23.

  On the morning of May 23, at the business model forum with the theme of "Debate · Business Model Innovation and Application", Maz, the pre-sales technical director of Weihong Power Systems (Huzhou) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Weihong Power") Lin Zuo gave a speech titled "Introduction to the Application of Fast Charging, Long-life, High-Safety Power Batteries".

  In recent years, with the adjustment of energy consumption structure and increasingly stringent environmental protection requirements, many countries around the world have formulated different new energy industry development policies. A number of subsidy policies issued by my country since 2009 have greatly boosted the development of China’s new energy vehicles. In 2017, my country’s new energy vehicle sales reached 777,000, an increase of 53.3% year-on-year. There are 578,000 vehicles, and the growth trend is very obvious. According to the plan, my country's new energy vehicle production and sales volume is expected to reach 2 million in 2020. Data show that battery shipments in 2017 were 44.5GWh, a year-on-year increase of 44.5%.

  Mazlin believes that under the rapid development trend of the new energy automobile industry, the research and development of fast-charging, long-life and high-safety power batteries has increasingly become the direction for battery manufacturers to compete. There are currently three main battery application modes: one is fast charge, the other is slow charge, and the third is quick change. Subject to technical limitations, the current market is still dominated by slow charging. Mazlin said that the charging time of slow-charged batteries is long, basically at three to five hours, and the operating efficiency of vehicles is relatively low. At the same time, long charging time will occupy more charging stations, and the utilization rate of charging stations is relatively low. At present, in large and medium-sized cities, it is difficult to have suitable land to build large-scale charging stations.

  As early as 2008, Weihong Power established the research and development goal of fast charging, long life and high safety lithium-ion power battery. Mazlin said that Weihong Power's 10-15 minute fast charging products can greatly improve the efficiency of the operation of vehicles and charging piles. At the same time, fast-charged batteries have varying degrees of advantages over slow-charged batteries in terms of battery capacity requirements and overall battery weight.

  The key to battery technology lies in material development. Mazlin said that Weihong Power, as a company that vertically integrates systems from materials to batteries, has been focusing on the technology research and development of battery components. According to Mazlin, the successful research and development of modified lithium titanate materials that solve the problem of flatulence, high-porosity diaphragms designed for fast charging requirements, and porous composite carbon materials are all targeted development results of Weihong in the direction of fast charging technology. .

  Battery safety is the core of electric vehicle safety. Mazlin said that safety has always been the top priority of Weihong Power. Weihong Power is committed to the research and development of high-safety batteries, and solves the problem of battery safety through research on non-flammable electrolyte technology. In terms of safety, in addition to the safety design of the battery cell, the system also realizes double protection through built-in silicone oil and external MSD. In addition, Weihong Power continues to increase the energy density of batteries on the basis of fast charging, long life and high safety. According to Mazlin, Weihong Power currently has a fast-charging battery energy density of up to 230Wh/kg.

  While carrying out battery cell research, Weihong Power has also done a lot of research on PACK. According to Mazlin, the new generation of standard commercial vehicle cabinets launched by the company this year is 30% lighter than before. The energy density of the system battery pack is above 135Wh/kg.

  Weihong Power has released four generations of fast-charge batteries in succession since it launched the first-generation fast-charge battery-GenI in 2009. The new high-energy-density fast-charge battery launched by Weihong Power in 2018 has an energy density of 220Wh/kg and can be fully charged in 20 minutes. At the same time, the ultra-long cycle life can also guarantee the application of the full life cycle of eight years. According to Mazlin, Weihong Power invested in Chongqing’s first fast charging line in 2011. As of March 2018, there were 21,000 sets of battery systems in the world, charging between 2C and 5C, and the accumulated operating mileage exceeded 1.9 billion kilometers, the products are distributed in more than 150 cities in 13 countries and regions around the world, and there has never been a safety accident caused by the battery itself.

  Weihong Power System (Huzhou) Co., Ltd. was established in December 2006, specializing in the research and development, design, production and sales of lithium-ion battery materials, battery cells and systems, and is a leading provider of electric vehicle power system solutions. The products are widely used in new energy electric vehicles, and have also begun to be applied in batches to heavy equipment markets such as power grids, ports, and mines. The company has set up R&D centers for materials, batteries, and products in China, the United States, and Germany, respectively; it has more than 600 full-time R&D personnel, of which 25 have a doctorate degree, and more than 130 have a master’s degree.
