  Battery manufacturing equipment technology gap is large

  The survey results of OFweek Industrial Research Center show that in the process of lithium battery production and preparation, there are several stages of equipment that have not yet been fully localized, such as coating machines, winding equipment, and equipment for lithium battery components. There are domestic manufacturers, but few companies have mastered the relevant technology or reached the first-class level. The level of substitution in these three types of Chinese products is relatively high. Even so, compared with foreign manufacturers, there is still a big gap.

  Take the coating machine as an example. The domestic coating machine needs to be improved in terms of accuracy and speed. The average coating speed of imported equipment is about 80m/min. To reduce the R&D investment in manufacturing equipment technology, the core technology of equipment purchased by money is still in the hands of foreign equipment manufacturers.

  Under the situation of unstable external environment, it is particularly necessary for domestic enterprises to carry out large-scale, continuous manufacturing technology and equipment research and development, special promotion and unified planning of equipment research and development and manufacturing. On the one hand, in response to emergencies, in the event of a black swan incident, foreign companies cut off the supply of equipment and at least have their own equipment available; on the other hand, improving the level of equipment can also improve the performance of my country’s power lithium batteries and gain a foothold among foreign heroes. It is also an effective measure to realize "Made in China 2025", which truly provides support for our country to deal with the technical pressure on the periphery. Therefore, my country's lithium battery companies or equipment manufacturing companies should increase R&D investment, adhere to independent intellectual property rights, and independent innovation. When designing and manufacturing equipment, it should also make full use of modeling and simulation analysis, pay attention to mechanism research, and be able to make full use of upstream and downstream resources, actively and effectively communicate, clarify development goals, and fully consider the cost of the entire life cycle.

  Power lithium battery has a low level of automation

  The current production scale of power battery systems has a certain amount of space compared to the number of batteries required for 5 million new energy vehicles in 2020. The main reason is that from a market perspective, starting from the second half of 2015, my country's power battery system has only begun to show explosive growth. The product design and manufacturing process technology upgrades of domestic power batteries have not kept up with the development speed, especially for battery modules. In terms of key production processes, the design and verification are not sufficiently complete, the one-time pass rate is low, and it is difficult to realize online automatic testing and quality tracking. Therefore, the production of power battery systems is still dominated by semi-automation, and only a few battery manufacturers have realized the automated production of power battery modules or modules. In addition, the large variety of products in the early market demand and the frequent replacement of batteries by different car companies have led to insufficient scale effects. This is also the main reason why companies have not invested in automated production equipment.

  Take the power battery PACK system as an example. Analysts from OFweek Industrial Research Center believe that the low level of automation of PACK is related to my country's national conditions. The layout of the power battery industry in my country is closely related to the layout and geographical area of the new energy automobile industry park. Therefore, when designing the battery pack, it is often necessary to transform it according to the configuration of different car companies, because different cores and different circuit designs bring differentiation The requirements of this have caused difficulties in automation design.   On the one hand, with the formation of stable cooperation between car companies and battery companies, after the battery design gradually matures, the production standard and the scale are formed, the automation process of the lithium battery manufacturing plant is expected to accelerate; on the other hand, with "process detection and information management" The gradual deepening of the core production management methods and the intensified product competition force companies to give priority to quality control, which will also prompt companies to accelerate the process of automated production.

  Industrial chain or cross-industry collaboration is still not close

  There is insufficient assistance between different types of participants and enterprises in the upstream and downstream of my country's power battery industry chain. In terms of increasing the energy density of power batteries, it is difficult and the effect is not significant if only the negative electrode material research and development companies use their own way to increase the energy density of the battery.

  If power battery companies can develop collaboratively with upstream raw material companies, it will be less difficult to improve battery energy density and the effect will become significant. The reality is that in addition to several lithium battery giants such as CATL and BYD, which can form close cooperative development relationships with upstream raw material companies, the remaining more than 200 lithium battery companies have cooperation with anode material companies and other battery material companies. Not enough. In addition, the participation of enterprises such as BMS and battery pack system PACK in the process of battery cell grouping is also particularly important.

  In addition, cross-industry and cross-field collaboration is very urgent in some specific links of the power battery industry. Power batteries have entered a period of obsolescence, and the echelon utilization and waste recycling of used power batteries have become new outlets. In the cascade utilization process, multiple fields and industries are involved, including coding in the production process of power batteries, to the scrapping of new energy vehicles, and then to the use of waste batteries in power, energy storage and other fields. Material recycling. Therefore, in the full life cycle of power batteries, more industries are required to cooperate in broader fields. However, so far, my country's power battery life cycle cooperation is in its infancy, relevant regulations are not perfect, and the collaboration between enterprises is not close.

  Therefore, companies in the lithium battery industry chain such as battery cell companies, BMS R&D companies, battery pack system PACK companies, equipment companies, testing centers, and vehicle companies need more joint development, strengthen supply chain collaboration, and give full play to their respective advantages. , Make use of strengths and avoid weaknesses. In addition, cross-sectors outside the industrial chain are also where the profitability of the power battery industry chain lies. If cross-industry cooperation such as gradient utilization and material recycling can be formed, it will undoubtedly create a wider moat for the power battery industry chain and resist external The risk is more favorable.
