  The entry-level Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus (SR+) has launched a new LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery option. The square-shell battery is provided by China CATL. Due to the strong demand for Model Y, the Model SR+ with Panasonic NCA 21700 battery is currently used, and the estimated delivery time for new orders is January 2022. Tesla currently contacted some customers via email and conducted a small-scale survey of intentions, asking them whether they can accept the LFP version that can be delivered "as early as September".

  Judging from the current data, the EPA battery version of the lithium iron phosphate battery has a range of 253 miles (407 kilometers), and the NCA has a battery of 263 miles (423 kilometers). There is currently a difference of 10 miles in battery life. For the LFP battery, Elon Musk also gave his own personal advice: on Tesla's iron-lithium version, you can charge the available SOC window to 100% state of charge (SOC) without worrying about battery life.

  Many people think that the main problems solved by the lithium iron phosphate solution are software, fast charging speed, SOC algorithm, etc. These problems are solved, and I believe that the lithium iron phosphate solution will enter a stage of rapid development.

  According to Tesla's schedule, the iron-lithium version of Model 3 may be imported into the US market in September 2021. It is estimated that it will take 6-9 months to gradually promote the iron-lithium version to the European market. According to this assessment, around Q3 of 2022, Ssufficient.

  Among European car companies, Volkswagen's 40kwh MEB lithium iron version is also accelerating. Europe may launch electric vehicles using lithium iron phosphate batteries in 2023-2024, about 1-2 years later than Tesla.

  The biggest question now is whether the price of lithium carbonate can be controlled with the large-scale use of lithium iron phosphate. As mentioned before, the market expects the cost of lithium iron phosphate to be very low, and it is a very challenging task to achieve this price.S
