Many UPS systems have abandoned lead-acid batteries, which are not environmentally friendly, and switched to lithium iron phosphate batteries. BMS is also a key component of lithium batteries, and it is the last line of defense to protect the safe use of lithium batteries.
So, what kind of functions does the lithium battery BMS used in the UPS system need to have?
The UPS system's requirements for BMS mainly include the following eight points:
1. Cell equalization voltage: when the cell voltage is greater than this value, the equalization is turned on.
2. Resuming charging voltage: After charging protection, when the highest cell voltage is greater than this value, charging resumes.
3. Recovery discharge voltage: After discharge protection, when the lowest cell voltage is greater than this value, discharge is resumed.
4. System shutdown cell value: when the lowest cell is less than this value, the system will automatically power off and shut down.
5. Level 1 charging alarm value: If any battery cell is higher than the set value, the battery enters the charging protection state.
6. Secondary charging alarm value: If any battery cell is higher than the set value, the system enters the charging protection state.
7. First-level discharge alarm value: if any battery cell is lower than the set value, the battery enters the discharge protection state.
8. Secondary discharge alarm value: If any cell is lower than the set value, the system enters the discharge protection state.
The design of BMS can add SOC, SOH and other functions according to the needs of customers, and can also add CAN, RS485, Bluetooth, and remote network online monitoring functions.
Lithium-ion battery (LIB) has become the main energy storage solution in modern social life. Among them, lithium iron phosphate batteries are a perfect replacement for lead-acid batteries, and they are the first choice for grid-connected peak shaving, off-grid energy storage, photovoltaic energy storage, UPS, data center and other industries.
