CATL wins 15GWh battery order from U.S. car company

　　On November 2, Fisker, a US electric vehicle start-up, officially stated that the company has signed a long-term battery supply agreement with CATL.

　　According to the agreement, starting from 2023-2025, CATL will provide Fisker with at least 5GWh power batteries each year, and a total of 15GWh batteries, including small lithium iron phosphate battery packs and large high nickel manganese cobalt battery packs.

　　It is reported that the above two battery solutions will be installed in Fisker's luxury pure electric model Ocean SUV, in which the ternary lithium battery will be used in the long-life version, and the iron-lithium battery will be used in the entry-level low-cost version.

　　Currently, Fisker and CATL are conducting extensive testing and verification at the packaging and vehicle levels.

　　The requirements for the batteries supplied by CATL are also quite stringent. In addition to meeting Fisker's stringent packaging requirements, it also allows the use of innovative engineering integration strategies: direct charging from the optional solar roof. Moreover, these two battery pack solutions will support peak charging power exceeding 250 kilowatts.

　　In addition to Fisker, an American car company, CATL has recently reached an agreement with the American commercial electric vehicle manufacturer Electric Last Mile Solutions (ELMS.US), which will provide lithium iron phosphate batteries for ELMS electric vehicles and ensure that the batteries are supplied to 2025.

　　In addition, an ELMS spokesperson said that the two companies are also studying the establishment of a factory in the United States to produce batteries and transport them to the ELMS factory in Indiana for assembly into battery packs.

Among them, lithium iron phosphate batteries are a perfect substitute for lead-acid batteries, and are the first choice for grid-connected peak shaving, off-grid energy storage, photovoltaic energy storage, UPS, data center and other industries.
