　　The traditional welding process is operated by an AC spot welding machine. The advantages of this mode are flexible use, low cost, and high processing efficiency. The disadvantage is that the quality of spot welding is difficult to control. At the same time, the AC spot welder uses a high current heating method to cause metal fusion, which poses a risk to lithium batteries, and many lithium batteries will cause potential defects.

　　The principle of laser welding is to use high-power laser focusing to fuse metals. There is no process of generating large currents to impact the lithium battery, and the positioning and depth of laser welding can be precisely adjusted, which is far superior to ordinary welding processes.

　　The advantages of laser welding are:

　　1.Fast speed, large depth, and small deformation.

　　2. It can be welded at room temperature or under special conditions, and the welding equipment is simple.

　　3. It can weld refractory materials such as titanium, quartz, etc., and can weld heterogeneous materials with good results.

　　4. When welding large metal devices, the aspect ratio can reach 5:1 or even 10:1.

　　5. After the laser beam is focused, a small spot can be obtained, and it can be accurately positioned, which can be applied to the welding of micro and small workpieces that are mass-produced and automated.

　　Although laser welding equipment is very expensive, in order to ensure the quality and consistency of the lithium battery, it is recommended to use laser technology for welding during the pack process of the lithium battery.
