There are many factors that affect the life of lead-acid batteries, including battery structure, positive and negative grid materials, positive and negative active materials, separators, electrolyte concentration, etc., and also depend on a series of external factors, such as discharge current Density, temperature, depth of discharge, maintenance status and storage time, etc.
1. Temperature
The temperature has a great influence on the lead-acid battery, too high or too low will cause the battery life to decrease (high temperature leads to overcharging, low temperature leads to undercharging). Especially high temperature has a significant impact on the life of lead-acid batteries.
2. Depth of discharge
The depth of discharge has a great influence on the service life of lead-acid batteries. The greater the depth of battery discharge, the fewer the number of cycles to use, so you should try to avoid deep discharge during use.
3. Float voltage
Lead-acid batteries are often used as a backup mode of operation, and the mains will always be charged under normal conditions. In order to prolong the service life of lead-acid batteries, the float voltage must be set reasonably.
4. Charging current
The battery charge and discharge current is generally expressed by C, and the actual value of C is related to the battery capacity. For example, a 100AH battery, C=100A. Generally speaking, the best charging current for lead-acid maintenance-free batteries is about 0.1C. Excessive or too small charging current will affect the service life of the battery.
The nominal life of a lead-acid battery is about 3 years, and the cycle charge and discharge is about 500-800 times, but it is difficult to achieve in actual application.
Lithium-ion battery (LIB) has become the main energy storage solution in modern social life. Among them, lithium iron phosphate batteries are a perfect replacement for lead-acid batteries, and they are the first choice for grid-connected peak shaving, off-grid energy storage, photovoltaic energy storage, UPS, data center and other industries.
