With the widespread application of solar power generation, battery energy storage systems have played an important role in power storage. Before starting the solar power generation + energy storage project, we must consider the following important issues.
(1) Which mode is adopted
Either AC mode or DC mode can be used.
The AC mode requires a powerful inverter to charge the battery energy storage system, and at the same time, it can also deliver power to the grid.
The direct current mode uses a charge controller or other DC-DC converter to feed the power provided by the solar power generation facility to the battery, and then the power is input to the grid through the inverter.
(2) Performance requirements of the inverter
It is the right choice to adopt a new advanced inverter with frequency control capability and adjustable charging. The warranty period of the inverter is usually only 5-7 years.
(3) Project deployment location
The climatic conditions of the deployment site and the policies of the local government will affect the installation and deployment of the entire system. For example, special batteries are required in places where the weather is extremely hot. For example, inverters used in California must comply with Rule 21 regulations, but in Hawaii it is Rule 14H.
(4) The energy storage system must control the temperature
The battery needs to be in the best ambient temperature range, even if it is a high-temperature-resistant lithium iron phosphate battery, if it is often operated at high temperatures, its life will be greatly reduced.
If the outdoor environment does not allow the climate, the energy storage system needs to be installed indoors and has an auxiliary system to control the temperature.
(5) Whether the user owns or leases the solar power system
If the user has full ownership of the system, then there will be the greatest benefit, and the update and transformation will be easy, of course, the initial investment cost is very high. If it is a leasing model, the initial cost will be greatly reduced, but the revenue will be reduced a lot, and the addition of certain equipment may be restricted.
