Lithium iron phosphate battery refers to a lithium-ion battery that uses lithium iron phosphate as a positive electrode material. Lithium iron phosphate batteries are lithium-ion secondary batteries, which have great advantages over lead-acid batteries and nickel-hydrogen batteries.
In recent years, the application of lithium iron phosphate batteries has become more and more extensive, and the number of shipments has also increased rapidly. Promoting the rapid growth of lithium iron phosphate batteries is because it has seven major advantages:
(1) Improvement of safety performance
The P-O bond in the lithium iron phosphate crystal is firm and difficult to decompose, so it has good safety. A report pointed out that a small part of the lithium iron phosphate battery samples were found to burn in the actual operation of acupuncture or short-circuit experiments, but there was no explosion.
(2) Long cycle life
The cycle life of lead-acid batteries is about 300 times, and the highest is 500 times, while the cycle life of lithium iron phosphate batteries is more than 4000 times.
(3) Good high temperature performance
Wide operating temperature range (-20 ℃-+75 ℃). The thermal peak of the lithium iron phosphate battery can reach 350℃-500℃, while the lithium manganate and lithium cobalt oxide are only around 200℃.
(4) Large capacity
With the same volume, it has a larger capacity than lead-acid batteries.
(5) No memory-effect
When the rechargeable battery is always fully charged and not emptied, the capacity will quickly fall below the rated capacity value. This phenomenon is called the memory effect. Like nickel-metal hydride and nickel-cadmium batteries all have memory effect, while lithium iron phosphate batteries do not.
(6) Light weight
The volume of the lithium iron phosphate battery of the same specification and capacity is 2/3 of the volume of the lead-acid battery, and the weight is 1/3 of the lead-acid battery.
(7) Eco-friendly
The battery is generally considered to be free of any heavy metals and rare metals, non-toxic, non-polluting, in line with European RoHS regulations, it’s green and eco-friendly battery.
