  A. Different stages of product quality control

  Quality is designed and manufactured, not tested! This is why SES Power often explains to clients why good quality is a team that needs to be done.

  Good quality must first have a good design team, and the designed products must go through DFM (Design for Manufacturing). At this stage of DFM, product design needs to meet the requirements of product manufacturing and have good manufacturability, so that the product can be manufactured with the lowest cost, the shortest time and the highest quality. Each battery starts from customer demand VOC, and transforms customer or market requirements into design requirements, component characteristics, process requirements, and production requirements.

  The selection of cells, the design of the system, the manufacturing process, the debugging of parameters, and the design of fixtures must meet customer requirements, and select methods, materials, processes, and fixtures that are more suitable for the company's manufacturing.

  When designing, our design team often needs to conduct DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Analysis): to strengthen product design from the aspects of battery consistency, reliability, and working performance.

  In this process, we must predict the supplier's ability, and the designed tolerance or margin must be met by the supplier with sufficient ability, otherwise the perfect design will not be realized.

  Next, we use PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Analysis): when the design is determined, which failure modes in the company's manufacturing process will affect the product, we do a failure mode analysis on the manufacturing process capability, and we have corresponding improvement measures.

  We will have preventive measures for the failure mode of the product and the problems encountered in the process, and then make a detailed plan in IQC, PMP, CTQ, OQC, MSA, ORT, etc. An example is as follows: The most difficult thing to control in the operation process is the employees, because the experience of new employees and old employees is different, it is inevitable that employees will make some mistakes. There are fool-proof measures when designing production lines and mechanical equipment, so that employees will avoid mistakes. Even if employees make mistakes, the mechanical equipment will alarm in time to remind employees to make changes in time.

  

  After the product's DFM, DFMEA, PFMEA, and production line layout, the battery is verified and improved through the four stages of R&D-EVT-DVT-PVT. When the battery passes these stages of testing and improvement, it can be mass-produced. went well.

  

  B, the establishment of quality system

  SES Power has passed the ISO system certification very early, and we strictly follow the ISO requirements. For example, the system documents are divided into the first-level document quality manual, the second-level document quality control procedure, the third-level document SOP, and the fourth-level document inspection record. Inspection instructions.

  C. Supplier quality management

  The main materials of the lithium battery pack include: cells, BMS, wires, connectors, PVC, insulating materials, fuses, equipment, etc., each of which has a different degree of influence on the final performance, quality and cost of the battery.

  Supplier's quality, cost, delivery time, R&D capability, response speed and supplier's strategic positioning are all indicators for us to assess suppliers, and quality management is one of the most important assessment KPIs for supplier management.

  SES Power will give suppliers a reasonable profit margin. Only by making money can they ensure quality. Blindly bargaining will cause suppliers to reduce quality or cut corners in personnel training and testing methods.

  D. Process quality control

  We have standard instructions for each lithium battery product. The standard instructions will cover standard operating procedures and precautions, and employees cannot operate in violation of regulations. The work inspection instruction book has a clear definition of the sampling frequency, inspection method, and inspection equipment.

  

  For key characteristic parameters, in the process control, we will carry out some monitoring. If the test at the previous station is bad, then the bad ones should be selected or intercepted at the next station. When the production line has staff operating errors, there will be systematic prevention Don't let defective products flow to the next process or to customers.

  The traceability system is also a basic necessity, which can achieve the human, machine, material and production time, including the characteristic parameters of the key process, operator, machine equipment number, material batch number, production time, etc.

  We will also conduct training for employees. Each employee must identify which work stations are defective, which are good, which are qualified and which are unqualified. When the bad is reflected in the production process, the staff will isolate the bad inspection, and it will not flow to the next station or even the customer.

  IPQC is like a police officer in a factory. It conducts regular inspections on the mechanical equipment parameters of the production line, the operator's operation method, the operator's compliance with the operation process, the CTQ parameters, and the input/output parameters of the equipment, etc. according to the sampling plan.

  The equipment maintenance operation instruction is also one of the aspects of quality control, which clearly lists the maintenance method, maintenance frequency, and replacement cycle of spare parts to ensure that the equipment is in a good operating state.

  E. Quality management of finished products (OQC)

  A very important point in the quality management of finished products is the sampling plan. According to different quality requirements, the sampling plan table needs to formulate different sampling plans, sampling frequencies, and sampling quantities.

  More often, SES Power will conduct full and comprehensive testing of lithium battery products to ensure the goal of zero-defect shipments.

  Quality is produced, not inspected. Lithium battery is a complex and dangerous product. SES Power strictly abides by the ISO process to ensure that the quality can perfectly meet the requirements of customers and regulations.
