Major adjustments to Vietnam's power planning, squeezed out photovoltaic power generation

　　On Friday, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Dang Hoang An stated at a meeting that this is equivalent to a reduction of nearly 800 trillion VND (34.48 billion U.S. dollars) in investment. He also mentioned the power development plan for 2021-2030 (Eighth edition) and Vision 2045. The Ministry of Industry and Trade reduced the planned capacity for 2045 by 9.7% to 333,590MW.

　　In order to ensure power safety, in the updated version, the Ministry of Industry and Trade excluded solar power capacity from the national reserve energy capacity. This is because solar power generation is unstable. "A cloud drifts over and the capacity may drop by 40%."

　　In the absence of solar energy, the reserve capacity is 43% of the total, which can ensure the safety of the system. Some investors and experts are also making suggestions for the development of electric power in the next ten years.

　　Mathias Hollander, senior manager of Copenhagen Offshore Partners, said that by 2030, Vietnam can develop 5-10GW off-grid wind power, creating an economic added value of US$60 billion.

　　He added that strong offshore wind can increase power generation by 50%, reaching the level of hydropower.
