Energy storage system has won a major victory in the reform of Australia's energy market
Australia's energy storage system construction process will be greatly promoted, thanks to a recent landmark reform: abolish the rules that are not suitable for the development of new energy technologies, and establish new rules.
The new rules propose to enhance the "system strength", that is, to improve the power quality required by the power system, and to a large extent change the criticized measures introduced a few years ago, because these measures were found to only change the deployment of energy storage. Worse, not better.
Ironically, these so-called "Do No Harm" rules were issued by the Australian Energy Market Council, focusing on the system strength requirements of renewable energy power generation facilities such as wind power and solar power.
However, these requirements have been incompletely considered, making the application of these new energy sources uncoordinated and random, so that the owners of the transmission network complain that these bad conditions have made the grid operation more unstable and request that this rule be changed.
In the past few years, people have become more and more aware of the energy technology of inverters, and many battery energy storage systems can provide a variety of power services. This has given new ideas for funds interested in investing in the new energy industry.
The Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) finally adopted the recommendations of market operators, grids and technology providers, and focused on grid operators because they best understand the system strength requirements of the grid.
It is now expected that inverter-based energy technologies (including wind power, solar, battery energy storage systems, and hydrogen energy, etc.) will be easier to provide systems traditionally provided by synchronous generators (such as coal-fired power plants and natural gas power plants) strength.
Anne Collyer, Chairman of the Australian Energy Market Council (AEMC) said: "Our approach to changing this rule is a practical approach that incorporates the opinions and suggestions of important stakeholders and aims to mitigate the consequences that may lead to inefficient operations. More energy producers should be encouraged to enter the Australian electricity market. This is a victory for energy developers and consumers. Without this important measure, it will be more difficult for cleaner new energy sources to connect to the grid, making it difficult to connect electricity to the grid. Provided to families and businesses."
Today’s new rules should bring greater system security, reduce the intervention of the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), and ultimately build a system that allows new energy to be connected to the grid more easily and faster, which will help to reduce the cost of consumers. "
Lithium-ion battery (LIB) has become the main energy storage solution in modern social life. Among them, lithium iron phosphate batteries are a perfect substitute for lead-acid batteries, and are the first choice for grid-connected peak shaving, off-grid energy storage, photovoltaic energy storage, UPS, data center and other industries.
