British battery energy storage startup Field Company recently acquired the third battery energy storage system, the acquisition is the Scottish clean energy developer IILI Group's 50MW Auchteraw battery energy storage project. The project operates near Fort Augustus in the Scottish Highlands.
This is Field's third battery energy storage system after acquiring the 20MW Field Oldham battery energy storage system and the 20MW Field GerrardsC ros battery energy storage system earlier this year.
The original name of Field Company was Virmati Energy Company. The company plans to deploy another 270MW battery energy storage project, and plans to deploy and operate battery energy storage system installed capacity of 1.3GW by 2024.
Field company founder Amit Gudka said it is exciting to deploy more battery energy storage systems. He said, “We are determined to act quickly and cooperate with companies such as the ILI Group to finance, build and operate the renewable infrastructure needed to achieve net zero emissions. The response to the climate crisis requires large-scale systemic changes. I hope that Field’s continued business development can prove to the world that this is a better way to invest."
The Auchteraw battery energy storage system is the latest in a series of assets sold by the ILI Group. The company has conducted five battery energy storage system transactions in the past year and month. These include the sale of its 50MW Fordtown battery energy storage system in Aberdyshire in October, and the sale of its 50MW utility-scale battery energy storage system in Fife, Scotland, in March.
These transactions bring the total installed capacity of the energy storage projects sold by the company to 250MW, and another 750MW energy storage system is planned to be put on the market between 2021 and 2022. Overall, the company is seeking to develop 3GW battery energy storage projects and 2GW pumped storage power generation facilities in the UK.
ILI Group CEO Mark Wilson said: "It is appropriate to announce this news at the beginning of the COP26 conference, because such energy storage projects are critical to the transition to net-zero energy. Without energy storage systems, grid operations will become Unstable and will continue to rely on fossil fuels."
Lithium-ion battery (LIB) has become the main energy storage solution in modern social life. Among them, lithium iron phosphate battery is a perfect replacement for lead-acid batteries, and it is the first choice for grid-connected peak shaving, off-grid energy storage, photovoltaic energy storage, UPS, data center and other industries.
Solar power generation system with lithium battery energy storage system is a very promising clean energy.
