When the gel battery is discharged, the active material of the positive and negative electrodes becomes lead sulfate (PbSO4), and then returns to the original state after charging, that is, the positive electrode becomes lead dioxide (PbO2) and the negative electrode becomes sponge lead (Pb).
1. The battery should be installed in a special compartment or cabinet.
2. The starting battery should be installed as close as possible to the prime mover. If the battery cannot be installed in the battery room, properly ventilate it during installation.
3. The installation of the battery should be easy to detect, clean and replace. There must be enough space between the upper and lower batteries to facilitate the storage of the batteries. There should be a gap of not less than 20 around each battery.
4. The gap between the batteries should be wedged and fixed with insulating materials. The insulating materials cannot absorb moisture or corrode the electrolyte. The bottom of the battery box or cabinet should be lined with a tray made of green lead or other corrosion-resistant materials, the thickness is not less than 2mm, and the height of the tray should not be less than 45mm.
5. The battery room, box and cabinet should be equipped with independent ventilation devices, with air outlets on the top and air inlets on the bottom. Usually, the intake and exhaust ports are arranged at both ends of the diagonal
7. Acid and alkaline batteries are not allowed to be placed in the same battery compartment, box or cabinet.
8. Special cables and bolts should be used for battery wiring. After tightening, all terminals should be coated with petroleum jelly or other grease to prevent corrosion.
9. The battery charging equipment should be able to charge the battery pack to the rated capacity in less than 10 hours in a fully discharged state, and should be equipped with short-circuit protection.
10. The electrical equipment installed in the battery room should be of explosion-proof type.
