In the early stage, the cost per kWh of new energy could not compete with traditional fossil energy. With the advancement of technology, the cost of wind power and photovoltaic power generation has dropped dramatically in the past ten years.
According to the statistics of IRENA, the average generation cost of photovoltaic, onshore wind power, and offshore wind power in 2019 is 0.068 / 0.053 / 0.115 USD per kWh, which is a decrease of 82% / 38% / 29% compared with 2010, which has reached the level of traditional fossil energy.
