Although lithium batteries have excellent performance and long cycle life, there are still many failures or problems in the actual process.
So, what causes these failures and problems?
Fault 1: Unable to charge and discharge
The lithium battery cannot be charged during charging and cannot be discharged normally during use. (1) The PCM or BMS board of the lithium battery may fail. (2) A single cell in the lithium battery pack fails, causing the PCM or BMS to enter the protection state. (3) Lithium batteries with fuses may burn out due to excessive power usage. (4) The environmental problem is too high or too low, causing the PCM or BMS to enter the protection state.
Fault 2: Abnormal temperature
If the temperature of the lithium battery is abnormal during charging or discharging, generally speaking, the temperature is too high. It may be (1) there is a slight short circuit inside the lithium battery, which causes the real loss of the lithium battery to be large. (2) There is a problem with the PCM or BMS, the MOS tube is damaged and the impedance increases and causes heat.
Fault 3: Stop working suddenly
The lithium battery suddenly stops working during use. It may be: (1) The battery in the battery is discharged, and the minimum voltage of the PCM or BMS has been reached. (2) The output terminal of the lithium battery is short-circuited, triggering the short-circuit protection function of the lithium battery. (3) The output power of the lithium battery is too large, which triggers the overload protection function of the lithium battery. (4) The ambient temperature is too high or too low, triggering the temperature protection function of the lithium battery.
Lithium-ion battery (LIB) has become the main energy storage solution in modern social life. Among them, lithium iron phosphate batteries are a perfect substitute for lead-acid batteries, and are the first choice for grid-connected peak shaving, off-grid energy storage, photovoltaic energy storage, UPS, data centers and other industries.
