A solar cell with a surface morphology similar to that of a plant can improve its ability to capture light, thereby generating more energy.
The working mode of solar photovoltaic panels is similar to that of plant photosynthesis, in which light energy is absorbed and then converted into different forms of energy.
The first point of this process is to use most of the spectrum; the second is to efficiently capture light from different angles as the position of the sun changes.
Plants have these two abilities due to long-term evolution. Scientists at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology were inspired by this phenomenon in nature and developed solar cells with a wider absorption spectrum, high incidence angle, and high tolerance.
They integrated this transparent rose petal epidermal cell bionic product into an organic solar cell and found that the energy conversion efficiency (for normal incident light) increased by 12%. At a very shallow angle of incidence, the efficiency improvement is even higher.
Scientists attribute this to the excellent omnidirectional anti-reflection properties of the bionic products, which reduce the surface reflection value to less than 5%. In addition, the skin of each bionic product works like a micro lens, which expands the interaction between light and matter and increases the probability of photons being absorbed.
Lithium-ion battery (LIB) has become the main energy storage solution in modern social life. Among them, lithium iron phosphate batteries are a perfect replacement for lead-acid batteries, and they are the first choice for grid-connected peak shaving, off-grid energy storage, photovoltaic energy storage, UPS, data center and other industries.
Solar power generation system with lithium battery energy storage system is a very promising clean energy.
