Solar cells are converted into electricity by sunlight. So, what is the specific principle of solar power generation?
In the photoelectric effect, we know that light above a certain frequency can eject electrons from metals. This tells us that the energy of light can act on electrons.
When sunlight shines on a semiconductor, a symmetric relationship between electrons and holes will be produced, that is, when sunlight generates a free electron in the semiconductor, a hole will be generated at the same time. Because electrons leave the position where they should be under the action of sunlight energy and become free electrons, there must be a lack of electrons in that position, and holes are produced.
Because there is an internal electric field in the PN junction, when sunlight generates electron and hole pairs in the PN junction, the electrons will move to the N-type semiconductor under the action of the internal electric field. Similarly, the holes move to the P-type semiconductor.
At this time, if the two ends of the PN junction are connected with wires, current can be generated.
Lithium-ion battery (LIB) has become the main energy storage solution in modern social life. Among them, lithium iron phosphate batteries are a perfect replacement for lead-acid batteries, and they are the first choice for grid-connected peak shaving, off-grid energy storage, photovoltaic energy storage, UPS, data center and other industries.
Although solar power generation is very environmentally friendly, it also has many shortcomings. It is recommended to use it in conjunction with an energy storage system.
